Family office service
Family Office is the new buzz phrase dreamt up by the copywriters to describe the classic work of private client practitioners. Sayers Butterworth has been involved in this area since 1900, acting for a number of families over several generations. This may simply involve running the family holiday home, paying the nanny and gardener or maintaining funds to pay school fees whilst our client is out of the country.
At the other end of the scale we advise on taxation of the remittances of art and capital into the UK and help clients with their residency and domicile and inheritance planning. More recently we have helped clients with the new Annual Residential Property Tax.
Inevitably, we get involved in Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning, moving wealth to the next generation with the subsequent executorships and trust formation. We act as personal trustees on many family and charitable trusts as well as executors, obtaining probate and submitting Inheritance Tax returns. Our commercial expertise with family trading companies sets us apart from non-accountant advisors and we regularly get involved in Enterprise Investment Schemes for family companies and obtain HM Revenue and Customs clearance on restructuring family groups. We are available to our clients as frequently or infrequently as required and we use key annual events to ensure we can quickly identify and advise on any circumstantial changes.
There is no such thing as a perfect family (or the perfect advisor!) but we often find ourselves the conduit for discussions and negotiations between family groups; moving through life alongside them. In fact, some of our clients have had continuity of personnel for 50 years or more.
Our service is personal and accessible, with a transparent fee structure providing excellent value for money.
